From April 4 to April 6, 2025, Palma Studios in Mosta will host The Other Side of the Wall: From October 7 to the War in Gaza, a powerful and timely photography exhibition by journalist and photographer Nino Orto. The exhibition offers a raw and deeply human perspective on the lives of those caught in the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict, beyond the headlines and political rhetoric.
Presented in collaboration with Osservatorio Mashrek and Palma Studios, this evocative showcase brings to light the profound personal realities faced by individuals living on both sides of the wall — realities often overlooked in the international conversation about the conflict.
A Year of Escalation and Survival
Drawing on a year-long immersion within the region, Orto’s work provides a rare, unfiltered glimpse into life as it unfolds amid war and uncertainty. From the devastating aftermath of October 7 to the unfolding war in Gaza, his lens captures both devastation and dignity — highlighting stories of fear, resilience, and fragile hope.
“For a year, I moved between both sides of the wall, witnessing the daily struggles and emotions of those who live under the constant shadow of war,” says Nino Orto. “This conflict has evolved beyond territorial disputes or moral justice — it has become an existential struggle for both peoples.”
Through stark imagery and war footage, The Other Side of the Wall invites viewers to look beyond political narratives and recognise the shared humanity of those enduring unimaginable hardship.
An Exhibition aimed at Challenging Perceptions
By breaking down both physical and psychological walls, the exhibition challenges audiences to confront the complexities of one of the world’s most enduring conflicts. The goal is to inspire deeper reflection, empathy, and dialogue around a situation often reduced to polarising discourse.
